WHY AMANDA SEYFRIED IS No.92
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange are getting all the credit for dictating the way this past year played out, but for our money, filmmaker Atom Egoyan was the most influential man of 2010 (but in a very different way). He’s the visionary responsible for getting the voluptuous starlet Amanda Seyfried to take her top off in his erotic thriller Chloe. In it, Seyfried plays the beguiling prostitute charged with seducing Julianne Moore’s husband, played by Liam Neeson. What ensues is a visual cacophony of exposed skin, girl-on-girl makeouts and a coming-out party (pun intended) for the most aesthetically intriguing actress in Hollywood. Sure, the storyline was a little weak, but that’s not why we went on opening night. The wide-eyed Seyfried can next be seen as the eponymous heroine in Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood. Your mother’s fable this is not.
WHY LARISSA RIQUELME IS No.93
Last summer’s World Cup will be best remembered for two things. And, no, we’re not referring to Spain’s epic victory or those (misunderstood) vuvuzelas. We’re talking about Larissa Riquelme’s right and left breasts, with their cleavage coming in at a close third. The Paraguayan lingerie-model-turned-super-fan rose to international attention when television cameras spotted her cheering her home team with a cell phone strategically placed between her ample assets. With Riquelme’s name trending on Yahoo! and Twitter throughout the entire tournament, it was eventually revealed that the busty beauty was hired by a shrewd phone company as a living, breathing advertisement. Riquelme’s 15 minutes have long since passed, but we’ll always cherish the time we spent watching her watch soccer. Insert lame pun about “scoring” or “balls” here.
WHY MAGGIE GRACE IS No.94
Who would have guessed that, of all the castaways on ABC's mind-bending smash Lost, the whiny brat Shannon Rutherford would be the first to make the successful transition to the big screen? Credit Maggie Grace, the statuesque head turner who made the most of playing the least sympathetic character on one of the past decade’s most popular shows. Since being killed off inLost’s season two, Grace has starred in the films Taken, Knight and Day and Faster. It's true that none of her post-Lost projects have attained the same kind of popularity as that revered show, but Grace’s luck is about to change, as she takes on the role of the Bella-baiting vampire Irina in the final two installments of theTwilight franchise, due in 2011. If Maggie Grace thought Lost fans were passionate, she ain't seen nothing yet.
WHY ARIANNY CELESTE IS No.95
The UFC is known mostly for knockouts of the bone-crunching variety, but Arianny Celeste -- the most popular ring girl in the history of the sport -- is more our style. Since joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2006, Celeste’s popularity has eclipsed that of most actual fighters, culminating in her highly anticipatedPlayboy cover shoot late last year. Twice voted “Ring Girl of The Year,” the Las Vegas native has mastered the art of holding the round card above her head, which is probably why she stands miles above her lesser known colleagues. Oh, and her incredible breasts don’t hurt.
WHY ANA DE LA REGUERA IS No.96
Anyone who watched this past season of HBO's acidic comedyEastbound and Down is already familiar with Ana de la Reguera, or at least her bottom half. For those of you who missed seeing the Mexican-born actress slither her way into Kenny Powers' (Danny McBride) pants, we feel sorry for you. The telenovelaveteran was one of the sexiest women on television this past season, and her Kardashian-esque posterior may be the sexiest we’ve seen since, well, Kim Kardashian's. Next summer, de la Reguera stars alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in Jon Favreau's highly anticipated genre mash-up Cowboys & Aliens, securing her spot as Mexico's hottest export since Salma Hayek.
WHY IVANKA TRUMP IS No.97
Ivanka Trump is a study in how to be an heiress. As the daughter of real-estate magnate Donald Trump (thank God she inherited his business acumen and not his hairline), Ivanka, who is blond and lithe like a fellow celebrity heiress, has chosen a different path than that socialite -- one that excludes sex tapes and coke busts, and opts instead for a legitimate career in business. As vice president for acquisitions and development of the Trump Organization, Trump has combined her inherent sex appeal and her father’s talent for self-promotion (her role as a judge is the only reason The Apprentice has any wind left) to establish herself as a marketable brand, and as some would suggest, the heir-apparent to her father’s empire
WHY CAMILLA BELLE IS No.98
When Camilla Belle and Joe Jonas ended their highly scrutinized relationship in 2009, we can’t say we didn’t breathe a sigh of relief. Belle was only 22 at the time and, after a successful career as a child actress, had yet to make the leap to the A-list. Her turns in When a Stranger Calls, 10,000 BC and Push certainly showed promise, but as long as she remained with the middle Jonas, interest in her love life would always trump interest in her career. Two years later, Belle finally finds herself in the spotlight again, with upcoming roles in From Prada to Nada, Zebras and the ambitious Mary Mother of Christ, in which she’ll star as Mary opposite screen legends Al Pacino and Peter O’Toole. Hey, Joe, we hope you had fun shooting Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. Can’t wait to see it!
WHY MINKA KELLY IS No.99
There is perhaps no cultural event more eagerly awaited thanEsquire magazine's annual naming of their Sexiest Woman Alive. So last year, when the esteemed magazine awarded the title to Minka Kelly -- who's clearly hot, but not sexiest-woman-alive hot -- we were stumped. Kelly, who's best known for her three-year role as the all-American Lyla Garrity in the underrated series Friday Night Lights and as first lady of Yankee Nation (she's dating Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter), doesn't quite hold a candle to former winners Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie,Halle Berry and -- well, you get the idea. But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t still gladly run through a defensive line just for a chance to smell her hair.
The next time your curious kid asks you how are babies made, just show him your wrist sporting the “Fertilization Watch!” Explain that the little sperm showing the minutes and hours is moving forth to fertilize the central ovule! And that’s how timely babies are born!
